From the early 1950’s until the 1980’s Lesney made Matchbox die-cast toys “Made in England” but they are now simply known as Matchbox and the current business still makes small scale model vehicles that are collected world-wide.

This site is a reference site for Matchbox Lesney toys or Matchbox models depending on what you want to call them.

The focus of this site is less about the current era and mostly related to the 1950’s, 1960’s, and 1970’s until the original business ceased.

At around the same time the two other major rivals in the die-cast market, Corgi Toys and Dinky Toys also ceased to exist. Those names, while synonymous with English toy makers in those earlier years, still exist today but with manufacturing in many countries and ownership in totally different hands.
